Lalit Narayan Mithila University (LNMU), Darbhanga, has released a notification for the Ph.D. Admission Test – 2024 (PAT-2024).

The schedule for PAT-2024 is as follows:

LNMU PhD Admission Test (PAT)  Eligibility Criteria

• A candidate must have a Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale in the concerned or allied subjects from a recognised university.
• A 5% relaxation in marks (55% to 50%) will be allowed for candidates belonging to SC/ST/BC/EBC/Differently-abled categories.
• Candidates having the required eligibility till the final date of application can apply for PAT-2024.

• Online applications are invited for the Ph.D. Programme.
• Interested applicants can fill up the online application form from 26.11.2025 onwards through the website www.lnmupat.in or the link on the University website: www.lnmu.ac.in.
• The application fee is non-refundable and must be paid online:
  • General Category Candidates: Rs. 3,000/-
  • SC/ST/BC/EBC/Differently-abled/Women/EWS: Rs. 2,000/- 
  • Late Fine: Rs. 500/-

LNMU PhD Admission Test (PAT) Exemption from PAT-2024

The following candidates are exempted from appearing in PAT-2024:

• Candidates who have passed UGC-NET/BET/UGC – CSIR NET/GATE/CEED.
• Candidates who have secured research grants like fellowships/scholarships offered by DBT/ICMR/ICAR/DST-INSPIRE/CSIR/ICHR, etc.
• Assistant Professors, Associate Professors, and Professors appointed on a substantive post in the UGC pay scale in the University’s teaching department or a Constituent College, with at least two years of uninterrupted service after successful probation.
  • Note: Teachers in self-financed courses/colleges are not exempted.
• Non-teaching employees of the University holding a substantive appointment for more than five years, with $\ge$ 55% marks in a Master’s Degree in the concerned subject, and at least two research papers published in reputed refereed/UGC-identified journals.
• Candidates who have passed PAT 2021-22 and PAT 2023.

Important Note: Candidates exempted from PAT-2024 are still required to apply online with the requisite fee. They will appear directly before the interview board.

LNMU PhD Admission Test (PAT Pattern of Test and Qualifying Marks

The Ph.D. Admission Test (PAT-2024) consists of two papers of 100 marks each²¹:

Minimum Qualifying Marks:

• General Category: 50% of aggregate marks
• Reserved Category: 45% of aggregate marks

LNMU PhD Admission Test (PAT Seat Reservation

• The Reservation policy of the State Government will be applicable to the total seats available in each subject.
• 50% of the available Ph.D. seats in each subject shall be reserved for candidates who have qualified UGC-NET/BET/UGC-CSIR NET/GATE/CEED.
• The remaining 50% shall be filled through the Ph.D. Admission Test (PAT-2024).
