Magadh University PhD Entrance Pali Syllabus

Time: 3 Hours

Full Marks: 100 Marks

Paper-I

This paper will be of objective nature containing 100 marks. There will be seventy objective type question out of which fifty are to be answered carrying two marks each. Question will be of multiple choice, matching type, true & false and will cover the prescribe syllabus.

Paper-II

This paper will consist of ten descriptive type questions of which five are to be answered carrying 20 (twenty marks each.)

Syllabus Prescribe for Paper I & II

•  Mahavagga: Bodh-Katha, Dhammachaka pavatan Suttasariputta Suttasariputta Moggallan pabbajja sutta.
• Digha Nikkayaud: Samanyafal sutta, Sabbasava sutta
• Majjhim-Nikkaya: Mulpriyaya sutta Khudaka-Naikkaya Dhammapada (Yamaka vagga, Appamad vagga, Chitta vagga)

• Abhidhammatha Sangah: (Chita, Chetasika, Rupa & Nibban)
  Milinda Panha: (Bahir – Katha, Lakhen – Panha)
• Life and work of Buddhadata and Budhaghosh
• (i). Histor History of Deepvansa and a Mahavansa. , (i). History of Pali Tipitak and Attakatha Literature.
• Pali Grammar: Sandhi, karaka, samasa and ethipachaya. Origin and Development of Pali Literature, Place of Pali in middle Indo Arya language.
• First, Second and Third Buddhist council and contribution of Ashoka in propagation of Buddha Dhamma.

Bodhisatta, Sammasambudha, Sila, Samadhi, Panya, Brahmvihara, Chatari-Ariyasachani, Ariya Athangikomaggo, Patichchsamut pada, Rupavachara & Arupavachara Chitta, Rupa, Nibban.
